Sometimes you are simply a flower in the wrong garden.
It’s common to feel “less than” when comparing ourselves to others, but rarely do we acknowledge that we may simply be made different. While it can still feel lonely when others don’t understand or value our unique needs, it’s important to remember that it does not make them any lesser or wrong.
Shift your story to change habits and addictions the “easy way.”
Because there is such as strong narrative that quitting bad habits is hard, it can sometimes become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Try the mental reframe of focusing on the feelings of relief and freedom from such habits, and it just might make stopping them easier than you expect.
Ask yourself, would you actually trade it?
When it comes to comparison, it can be easy to covet what we don’t currently have. But before you devalue your own experience, ask yourself if you would actually trade it allfor what you see. Doing this can remind us of the things in our lives that are most meaningful, and truly irreplaceable.
Sometimes medication makes a big difference.
Rarely is medication a silver bullet, but many clients are apprehensive to consider it at all. While medication has not been the ultimate solution for many clients, it has made all the difference - be it an SSRI for anxiety or switching a hormonal birth control - for others.
