Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT)

We’re seeking a stellar Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) to add to our team in 2026! We are a private practice in Pasadena helping high-functioning clients increase their well-being and thrive. The position will provide a unique opportunity to develop both clinical and private practice skills.

Who We Are:

Wellful Therapy is currently a solo private practice expanding to hire its first Associate therapist. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the practice owner for supervision, mentorship, and professional development while helping shape the growth of a small and thoughtfully developing group practice.

As a practice, we take a an integrative, strengths-based approach to client work, and our primary focus areas include anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and couples therapy. Associates will be encouraged and supported in developing as therapists based on their own unique clinical style and interests, and clinical supervision will offer opportunities for specific training and consultation in the following skills and modalities:

〰️ Gottman Couples Therapy

〰️ Yoga-Informed & Somatic Practices

Who You Are:

The ideal applicant will be enthusiastic to grow as a clinician, interested in working in private practice, and be able to balance the demands of licensure.

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Capacity for a minimum of 10 client hours per week, with opportunity to grow. Applicant understands it may take time to build their initial caseload.

  • A positive attitude and commitment to a positive approach in clinical work.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and excited by the opportunity to be a partner in the evolution of the position and our practice.

  • Ability to see at least some clients remotely.

  • Training or interest in working with Couples and/or EMDR a plus.

We very much welcome additional clinician specialties including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, neurodiversity-affirming backgrounds and approaches, and hope to be able to boost these strengths as part of a diverse and inclusive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards

  • Attend weekly supervision and actively participate in case consultation

  • Communicate with clients regarding scheduling, intake coordination, and follow-up as needed

  • Manage and maintain a consistent caseload over time

  • Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and professional standards of care


Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or related field

  • Associate registration in good standing with California BBS. Applicants awaiting registration, as well as Licensed clinicians, are also welcome to apply.

  • Access to a quiet, private space with reliable internet connection for telehealth sessions

  • Maintain compliance with California legal and ethical standards, including accurate and timely documentation, staying current with licensure requirements, and completing all necessary continuing education.

  • Ability to work on-site as needed and sit for extended periods

  • Some evening or weekend availability preferred

Compensation:

  • Clinical Rate: 40/60 fee split (Associate / Practice)

  • Administrative Rate: $20/hour
