As therapists we have the immense privilege of witnessing and being able to connect ideas that frequently come up across different clients, and sometimes even our own personal experiences.

Themes That Came Up in Session This Week...
“Holding space” is a love language.
Like quality time or words of affirmation, the ability be patient or say “I’m here when you’re ready” can be an important love language for introverts, friends in overwhelming seasons of life, or partners who need extra time to process a conflict before coming back together.
Having money creates a different set of problems.
Even after large windfalls or financial success, problems such as financial pressure, authenticity, trust and resentment with others, and “keeping up with the Joneses” tend to plague people. No amount of money will change the fact that that life comes with problems, so choose yours wisely.
Screens rob real experience and education.
Even Sesame Street can’t fully substitute for hands-on learning in areas such as social interaction and trial-and-error. But because screens often make us feel like we’re still connecting or educating ourselves, the biggest danger happens when we fail to also continue seeking the specific IRL experiences that make up for what they miss.
Surrender.
Acceptance can often feel hard, but there is something spiritual to the act of surrender. Whatever you’re carrying, lay it down in front of something bigger.
